      Saturday Learning Center

Saturdays are great volunteer days at Any Baby Can.  During Saturday classes, volunteers help tutor children and parents in literacy, math and English skills and/or supervise children during parenting classes. This program is every Saturday at the ABC offices from 10:30am - 3:00pm. Once we receive your volunteer application and approved background check, you are free to volunteer whenever your schedule allows.

Come on in on any Saturday, and we'll put you right to work. You will receive on site training and support. When you arrive, ask for Ruth Wells, Saturday Learning Center director. You don't have to call or email before you come as long as you have completed the Volunteer Application and Background Check. Our offices are located at 1121 E. 7th, which is 3 blocks east of I-35. Bus route Montropolis #4 from downtown (Congress.)

 Special Events

This is a great way to get your GROUP involved with ABC. Student, civic and church groups can join in and impact Austin through ABC events. We often need help with pre-event and post-event activities!

Help out at special events, make presentations about the mission of ABC, and represent us to the community in your own circles and at health fairs or plan your own event to benefit ABC.

Please see our News & Events Page for upcoming events...

Group Opportunities

Group Projects are a great way to help Any Baby Can children and their families with much needed items such as clothing, books, school supplies and other every day necessities. Here are some fun ideas for groups looking to support Any Baby Can on their own schedule:

Gift Card Drive: Gift cards of any amount can go a long way. Encourage your co-workers to pick up a gift card for an Any Baby Can family on their next trip to HEB, Wal-Mart or Target.

Baby Shower: Throw a baby shower to benefit new moms in our Tandem and NFP programs. In addition to new items, you can also collect gently used items such as cribs, strollers, joggers, maternity clothing and baby blankets. Another great idea is to gather up some friends a pack up a bunch of newborn baby bags complete with layette items, diapers and educational toys!

School Supply Drive: Engage your children and their friends by putting together new backpacks full of school supplies. Each backpack will go to a child enrolled in an Any Baby Can program who would be so grateful for a new backpack!

Book Drive: Help each child served by Any Baby Can have their very own books by organizing a book drive. Books in English and Spanish help each child learn basic reading skills and improve their ability to excel in school.

Projects in Expertise: Gather your co-workers together and put your expertise to great use at Any Baby Can! Volunteer your professional expertise to plan events, design or translate materials, maintain our landscaping, or teach financial literacy skills.

Art Supplies Drive: Art supplies of all varieties are used in many program areas at Any Baby Can. Supplies such as colored pencils, crayons, construction paper and coloring books help kids learn in our Family Literacy Program. Household items such as empty toilet paper rolls, colorful scarves, and cotton balls are used to create activity kits for our “Parents as Teachers” curriculum. Groups can also
volunteer their time to help put these kits together!

Warm and Snuggly Drive: Help keep a child warm by hosting a winter warmth drive in your neighborhood or at the office. New and gently used winter clothes, shoes, coats and blankets help keep kiddos warm and snuggly during the winter season.
