Rockin' Roundup 2007: A Decade's Effort Worth the Wait A beautiful Hill Country setting, a lively crowd and a great cause is a recipe for success, and the Any Baby Can 10th Annual Rockin' Roundup certainly did take the cake. More than 500 guests gathered at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch & Pavilion and enjoyed live music by The Lucky Strikes, a VIP Skeet Shoot, The Rockin' Roundup Famous Wine Toss, Jackpot Silent Auction and Casino Games.
Dean Blaine was honored for his dedication to the Any Baby Can Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. Blaine has selflessly supported Candlelighter's efforts, including the creation of Camp Grey Dove, a summer camp for siblings of children with cancer. Blaine shared the story of his family's struggle with cancer and his resulting passion to help children who battle the disease.
Senator Kirk Watson (pictured right with Any Baby Can Executive Director, Ellen Balthazar) emceed the event and kept guests laughing with his Texas sized humor, but he didn't stop there. Watson led the Roundup's most successful pledge drive yet! Any Baby Can extends sincere thanks to all Rockin' Roundup guests and sponsors. Such generous support allows Any Baby Can to continue providing help and hope to our community's youngest, sickest and poorest children.
Take Time in April to Remember Children in Need Austin is home to many happy children, but our community also knows poverty, sickness and disability. Parents work hard to provide the best life for their child, and when they face struggles, there is hope. Any Baby Can provides education, therapy and family support services to more than 5,000 of our community’s youngest, sickest and poorest children each year.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, an opportunity to reflect on the importance of putting children in our community first. In a proclamation from the White House earlier this month, President George W. Bush stated that April is a time to “renew our commitment to prevent child abuse and neglect and to work to enable our children to realize their full potential.” You can do your part to prevent child abuse today! Learn the Five Protective Factors for promoting healthy families.
April 22-28 is also Week of the Young Child, a time to recognize the needs of young children and thank the adults involved in their education and care. Parents, teachers, caregivers and other adults play important roles in the lives of young children, and Week of the Young Child celebrates their efforts.
Any Baby Can thanks our supporters and partners who join with us to give voice to our youngest and most vulnerable citizens. ABC also applauds the extraordinary occupational therapists, social workers, physical therapists and speech pathologists that are dedicated to the success of young children in our community.
