Our staff makes a difference in our community in amazing ways. From finding the copies of the Declaration of Independence in Spanish, to emergency hospital visits, and even helping parents get proper car seats on a Saturday, our staff goes the extra mile.
Barbara Williams and Christianna Hale
Recently, Barbara Williams and Christianna Hale worked determinedly to help a young homeless mother get bus tickets to her hometown for herself and her baby. She walked into Any Baby Can with only one ticket for herself. She had exhausted all resources but couldn’t find anything for the second ticket. Barbara sat her down at the front desk to do some more calling. Christianna had her contact Church Under the Bridge, and she got the second ticket.

Angelita Tobias
Recognizing how sick her client was, Angelita Tobias called a cab to take a young mother to the Brackenridge emergency room. She tried to follow the cab but it went ahead through traffic. When she finally got to the hospital, she could not find the woman anywhere in the E.R., even with the help of hospital staff. Knowing the woman did not read or speak English, Angelita was very concerned that she was lost in the big complex. The taxi company confirmed the woman had been dropped off at the E.R. As she continued to make calls on her cell phone, she kept searching the hospital and finally found her asleep in a waiting room upstairs. Angelita summoned hospital staff to take her to the E.R. The woman was admitted to the hospital and is in good health, thanks to the extra concern of Angelita.

Gracie Guajardo
Gracie Guajardo jumped right in to help during the merger of Candlelighters and Any Baby Can. While maintaining her caseload and that of two other vacant positions, she was a great help in getting everything unpacked and organized so the staff could get “back to business.”
